| It is always used in conjunction with o-ring. when subjected to pressure, the o-ring can be forced into the sealed gap and thus destroyed. it is fitted in order to restrict the size of the gap and thereby prevent the o-ring from extruding into it. the use of this a reliable o-ring seal effective over a wide pressure and temperature range. |
